Imby's Flowy Top | PDF Sewing Pattern

Imby’s Flowy Top was the starting point for my pattern making.

I originally made Imby’s Flowy Top before Karmme Apparel became what it is today. At the time, I was starting to explore pattern making and wanted to see if I could digitise a pattern and turn it into something other people could download and sew. It was a fun experiment, and in many ways it became the starting point for the Karmme Apparel pattern range.

I’ve kept it available as a free pattern because I still love the shape and think it’s a lovely, relaxed piece to sew and wear.

The top has a round neckline with a tie opening, oversized sleeves and soft gathers through the front and back, falling from a yoke that sits just above the bust. An alternative neckline with a front opening has since been added.

The pattern is available as a downloadable PDF in both A0 and A4 formats. The A0 version is one sheet and can be printed at Officeworks or a copy shop. The A4 version can be printed at home and pieced together, with 25 pages in total.

Construction instructions are included, along with a YouTube sew-along video.

It works beautifully in lightweight cottons, especially Indian block prints.

Sizing
This pattern is not graded and was created before I began developing the fuller size ranges used in my later patterns. It is approximately suited to Australian sizes 8–14, depending on the fit you prefer.

Sewing Level
Suitable for an adventurous beginner.

Fabric Requirements
For 110 cm wide fabric, you will need approximately 2.5 metres, plus elastic for the sleeves.

Please note that this was an early pattern-making project rather than one of my fully developed graded patterns. Since then, the Karmme Apparel pattern range has evolved to include broader size ranges, more detailed illustrated instructions and additional sewing support.
