Why Friends Dress & Blouse? 

When I was naming this pattern I had made it for my dear friend for her special birthday dress and was going to name it after her, then I thought of other friends who would also wear this dress, then others and as my mind flickered to all the ladies I thought would like this pattern I thought, this is The Friends Dress & Blouse, and so it was named.

A raglan sleeve that is split, this was to ensure that there was plenty of room in the sleeves but it didn't overwhelm the wearer with too much gathering around the neck. An elasticised collar was important as a design feature as I wanted the collar to sit gathered evenly at all times. Tassels or fabric ties added at the v neck opening to give a gorgeous boho feel but it's optional as to whether these are functional. The blouse version can be paired with shorts, matching pants for a set or jeans and it's such an easy going top to wear but with enough detail to feel a bit more dressed up if required.

The dress version has either 1 or 2 tiers, pockets, of course. This pattern lends itself perfectly to a print clash/mix. Details on which patterns pieces you could combine are suggested but of course, that design detail is up to you. You will need approximately 1.25 m of contrast fabric for sleeve head, collar and first tier if you choose.

Length with 2 tiers feels so lush, 1 tier is a perfect beach/party dress and the blouse has been my go to so far this spring/summer.

Sizing is S - XXL. Suggest checking sleeve length & skirt length you may need to add or take off at these points.
